The Institute of Economics Polish Academy of Sciences and ifo Institute are pleased to announce the 2nd edition of the Conference on Opportunities, Mobility, and Well-Being.

A keynote lecture will be delivered by Francisco H.G. Ferreira (Amartya Sen Professor of Inequality Studies, London School of Economics and Political Science).

This conference aims to improve our understanding how important life outcomes, such as income, education and health differ in the way they depend on factors we would classify as “circumstances” or “socio-economic background characteristics”. Furthermore, we would like to discuss recent methodological advances to account for the multidimensionality of unequal opportunities and intergenerational persistence.

We encourage empirical and theoretical submissions from the following fields:

  • equality of opportunity
  • well-being measurement
  • intergenerational mobility
  • social choice and welfare economics

We also welcome submissions from related strands of the abovementioned fields.

There is no participation fee. The conference will be held online and will be open to interested researchers within the above fields.

This workshop is funded by the Polish National Science Centre (NCN) and the German Research Foundation (DFG).
