Developments in economic policy in the Federal Republic of Germany

The 66th Annual Meeting of the Ifo Institute took place on Friday, 12 June 2015 in the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (Große Aula). The Ifo Annual Meeting consists of a closed session (General Meeting, Meeting of the Board of Trustees) and a public session with an analysis of the economy by the president of the Ifo Institute and guest speakers from business and politics.

This year the Ifo Institute’s Annual Meeting was linked with an invitation to the Symposium entitled: “Developments in economic policy in the Federal Republic of Germany”, jointly organised by the Ifo Institute and the Economics Faculty of the University of Munich and held on Thursday 11 June 2015 to mark what would have been the 100th Birthday of Prof. Hans Möller. Hans Möller devoted himself to the theory of economic policy and practical policy advice. He was the predecessor of Prof. Hans-Werner Sinn. The keynote speakers on 11 June were Prof. Knut Borchardt, Emeritus at the Economics Faculty of the University of Munich, Prof. Claudia M. Buch, Vice-President of the Deutsche Bundesbank and Prof. J.-Matthias Graf von der Schulenburg, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hannover. In addition to Prof. Sinn, the Dean of the Economics Faculty of the University of Munich, Prof. Joachim Winter, and Prof. Bernd Huber, President of the University of Munich, also made introductory speeches.
