The initial restrictions in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic may have had unintended social, health, and economic costs, as they are associated with an increase in domestic violence. Governments can counteract this trend by facilitating access to social services for specific target groups and by simplifying the processes through which victims of domestic violence can receive support.
