Awards for ifo Employees 2021

At ifo's Annual Meeting on 9 June 2022, research and third-party funding prizes were awarded to ifo employees.

ifo Outstanding Publication Award

Presented by the Society for the Promotion of Economic Research (Freunde des ifo Instituts) e.V.

Jean-Victor Alipour, ifo Center for Industrial Organization and New Technologies received this award 2021 for a publication in an excellent peer-reviewed journal. His paper  „My home is my castle – The benefits of working from home during a pandemic crisis“ (with coauthors Harald Fadinger und Jan Schymik) was published 2021 in the Journal of Public Economics.

Each year, the Society for the Promotion of Economic Research (Friends of the ifo Institute) e.V. presents this award for outstanding academic achievements in the field of empirical economic research. It goes to all young researchers who succeed in publishing an article in one of the most prestigious peer-reviewed journals. The ifo Institute’s Scientific Advisory Board supported the development of this award, and the Society supports the ifo Outstanding Publication Award with both ideas and finance.

Award for Special Achievements in Third-Party Funded Research

The 2021 award for special achievements in third-party funded research was presented to the project Multidimensional Inequality of Opportunity (EOPM).

The ifo Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys was in charge of preparing the report, supported by the ifo Center for the Economics of Education and by a doctoral student at LMU Munich. The following researchers were involved in the study: Paul Schüle, Dr. Larissa Zierow, Prof. Andreas Peichl from the ifo Institute; former staff members Marc Stöckli and Dr. Paul Hufe; and Jelena Todorovic (LMU).

This award is presented to projects that are particularly distinguished by a high volume of third-party funding and acknowledged quality of content. The work must have been completed in the past financial year, within the set deadlines and budget.

ifo Annual Meeting 2022 (Awards for ifo Employees 2021)

The awards were presented during the public portion of the ifo Annual Meeting on June 9, 2022 by Prof. Roland Berger, Chair of the Society for the Promotion of Economic Research, Prof. Veronika Grimm, Deputy Chair of the ifo Institute’s Scientific Advisory Board, and Prof. Clemens Fuest, President of the ifo Institute.
