Klement Trockner, Munich Economic Debate, Porträt

Global warming and the loss of biodiversity are closely interwoven human crises that can only be solved together.

Biological diversity (biodiversity) and an intact natural world grant clean water, healthy food, and fertile soils, prevention of natural disasters, and they provide cultural and spiritual identity for eight billion people. However, this unique diversity of species, genetic variations, and ecosystems is declining dramatically, threatening the prosperity and well-being of current and future generations. If the loss of this diversity continues unchecked, the future of humanity is at stake.

  • Are economic activities the decisive factor in the ongoing destruction of nature?
  • What can companies do to make their value chains more nature-friendly?
  • And what framework conditions must policymakers set to achieve this?

Moderator: Bastian Brinkmann, Deputy Head of the Economics Editorial Office of Süddeutsche Zeitung
