Is the Pension Safe? Challenges and Reform Approaches for Pension Provision
Lange Gasse 20, 90403 Nuremberg (School of Business, Economics and Society, FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg)
Germany is in the midst of profound demographic change. This has implications for the sustainability of social systems, especially pension insurance. Demographic trends and the resulting sociopolitical problems have been known for decades. But precisely because demographic processes take place so slowly, they are often pushed into the background.
To this day, policymakers have struggled to come up with an appropriate response to the challenges. Social policy makers must not only identify and adequately communicate the necessary reforms. Above all, they must also convince citizens of the necessity of the reforms.
Prof. Dr. Silke Übelmesser, Professor of Economics at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, spoke on this topic on April 26, 2023 at 6:00 pm.
