PD Dr. Rudolf Seising, Porträt

Not only is the advent of artificial intelligence (AI) changing the world of work and promising to improve people’s lives, but it is also shaping science: what is talked and written about, what goals are pursued, and how these are achieved.

  • How has the concept of intelligence changed through the use of communications and information technology?
  • What are the new goals in the field of mathematics and technology?
  • What changes are big data and data mining bringing about in AI research?

Three case studies illustrate ways to explain these changes in the first half of the 20th century and are used to examine what this development means for AI and science in the 21st century.

Moderator: Judith Wittwer, Head of the Economics Editorial Office of Süddeutsche Zeitung
