Migration, demographic shifts, climate crises, and conflicts – monumental changes and uncertainties loom on the horizon. Clemens Fuest, President of the ifo Institute for Economic Research in Munich, cordially invites you to the 75th-anniversary dialogue that bridges economics and literature. In this engaging event, Theresia Enzensberger (author of “Auf See,” among others, published by Hanser) and Philipp Blom (author of “Die Welt aus den Angeln” and “The Vertigo Years,” both published by Hanser) will join him in discussions about the potential conclusion of our prosperity and the imminent depletion of natural resources. Can the institutions of the democratic constitutional state and the social market economy effectively navigate the challenges ahead? To what extent can science – and our society – draw inspiration from the utopias (and dystopias) depicted in literature during this era of upheaval?

Organizer: CESifo GmbH, ifo Institut, Hanser Verlag, in cooperation with the Stiftung Literaturhaus
Location: Literaturhaus München, Salvatorplatz 1, 80333 München
