ifo: Poutvaara Joins Expert Council on Integration and Migration

The Expert Council of German Foundations on Integration and Migration (SVR) has appointed Prof. Panu Poutvaara as a new member. Poutvaara is Director of the ifo Center for International Institutional Comparisons and Migration Research and Professor of Economics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich.

The nomination was made following a vote by an independent selection committee. New SVR chairman Petra Bendel said: “Having economist Poutvaara join us means that the labor market and economic policy issues of migration will continue to be central to the Council’s work. We look forward to working with him.”

Poutvaara’s areas of interest include the impact of migration opportunities on family migration, populism, and investment in human capital, as well as immigration’s effects on welfare.
