KfW ifo SME Barometer

Tasks

To facilitate statements on the economic development of SMEs in Germany, the ifo Institute has been commissioned by and cooperates with the KfW Banking Group to calculate evaluations of its monthly surveys by company-size for the manufacturing, construction, wholesaling, retailing and service sectors.

Based on these evaluations, ifo produces a business climate indicator for SMEs in Germany that enables comparisons with larger companies and the development of the economy as a whole. Together with other survey results, this index is published on a monthly basis by the KfW Banking Group as the KfW ifo SME Barometer.
