The Economic Impact of the Nuremberg Trade Fairs and Events
Project period: January 2014 - August 2016
Research Areas:
Tasks
The main aim of this analysis was to determine the direct and indirect production and employment effects, as well as the tax income generated by trade fairs in a representative trade fair year based on the total expenditure of all trade fair exhibitors and visitors to trade fairs held in Nuremberg.
Methods
The calculations of direct and indirect effects are based on the input-output calculation.
Data and other sources
Exhibitor and visitor surveys.
Results
The total aggregate result (i.e. direct and indirect impact) of a typical trade-fair and event year in Nuremberg amounts to about EUR 1.65 billion, or roughly 14,800 gain-fully employed persons. Furthermore the resulting tax revenue of the various authorities (City of Nuremberg, Bavaria and Germany) was estimated. With the trade-fair and event related output of EUR 656 million, the concomitant tax revenue is about EUR 302 million.
