By national and international comparison, Saxony’s research landscape is relatively strong. However, the transfer potential of research results in Saxony is insufficiently exploited. As a result, promising research results are not used in applications as of-ten as they could be, and thus the positive effect on Saxony’s competitiveness is lower than it could be. One key factor accounting for the lack of the implementation of research results may be the absence of adequate sources of funding. In this light, the research team prepared a scientific report that will provide the basis for future funding programmes in Saxony.
