Tasks
The current global geopolitical situation, especially challenges linked to the energy crisis, while continuing the fight against global warming, have among other developments raised policy-makers attention to the role of public investments and how they should be treated in the EU economic governance framework, also in the light of the introduction of the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
We analyze existing literature on fiscal governance and public investments to contribute to the debate on the reform of the economic governance framework. We discuss whether public investment expenditure should receive any special treatment in the economic governance framework with regard to different accounting methods.
