Ifo Business Survey for December 2002

The business climate in German manufacturing, construction, retailing and wholesaling deteriorated in December for the seventh time in succession. In contrast to the preceding three months, the drop resulted from the far more unfavourable assessments of the current situation while the pessimism regarding the six-month expectations decreased for the first time since May. On the other hand, the business climate in east Germany again improved.
