Only slow recovery in European home building – will Germany become the locomotive?Selected results of the Euroconstruct summer conference 2010

Already in 2008 and 2009 European home building had strong setbacks. This year construction in this sector is also set to decline if “only” by ca. 3 percent. In 2011 and 2012 a recovery process with growth rates of 2½ and 3½ percent expected. The number of housing completions will trail this development: the expected 1.5 million completed housing units in 2012 will only be slightly above the level of this year. Important stimulus will come above all from Germany and Spain.
