Climate notes: Wind Energy’s Decade-Long Boom

At a global level wind energy enjoyed a massive boom in the first decade of the new millennium. Between 2001 and 2011 installed wind power capacity worldwide increased around tenfold. Germany, which was the leading country in wind energy in 2001, has now been overtaken by China. This article offers an overview of developments in wind power capacity and wind power plant construction.
