Administered Prices and Indirect Taxes: Implications for Inflation in the Eurozone

Since 2010 the Statistical Office of the European Communities has been publishing special indices on trends in administered prices in the euro area. They cover products whose prices are subject to government influence. This article presents methods and results, as well as showing the inflation effects of indirect taxation.
