After decreases in 2010 and 2012, construction activity is also expected to fall this year in all three sub-segments. This was one of the main findings of the Euroconstruct summer conference. Participants expect residential construction to gradually regain impetus as of 2014. The uptick in civil engineering, on the other hand, should be far slower. The outlook is even worse for non-residential construction, which is heavily dependent on the private sector’s willingness to invest. At the moment construction looks unlikely to experience any clear upturn in demand until 2015.
