There were significant advances in both globalisation and credit market deregulation during the period of 1970–2010. A new study analyses whether both of these developments are related, and whether globalisation led to a deregulation of the credit market. The analysis does not find any seemingly obvious link between globalisation and credit market regulation; at least no such effect can be statistically proven using appropriate methods and drawing on the data available.
