The ifo Institute and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung’s 22nd Economists Panel is dedicated to the topic of Germany’s coal phase-out. In the February survey, economics professors at German universities were asked how they rated the Coal Commission’s recommendations on Germany’s coal phase-out—with a particular focus on its economic consequences. The economists surveyed are largely skeptical about the phasing out of coal, even though some economic experts do regard it as unavoidable.
