ifo Manager Survey: Corporate Investment and Recruitment Plans for 2019

In the ifo manager survey of December 2018, companies were asked for their assessments of economic developments in 2019 and their investment and employment plans for 2019. Companies also commented on which topics they felt should be addressed by the German government. The majority of managers surveyed expect the German economy to grow more slowly in 2019 than in 2018. Both their investment and employment plans are less expansionary than in the previous year's survey. The majority of participants, however, indicated investment and personnel plans that remain relatively in line with those of 2018. Overall, employment growth is likely to slow.
