East Germany in Global Competition: Immigration is Necessary

East Germany is facing a huge shortage of labor, which will also have a negative impact on economic development. It is therefore necessary to attract qualified immigrants from abroad to a far greater extent than in the past. The planned law on the immigration of skilled workers creates the legal prerequisites for this. It is now necessary to use the leeway associated with this liberalization for the targeted recruitment of workers, especially from non-EU states
