On behalf of the Family Business Foundation, the ifo Institute interviewed more than 1,400 family and non-family businesses about the intensity of competition with Chinese companies or their products in the European domestic market and how the European Union should position itself vis-à-vis the People’s Republic. What the companies surveyed want to see above all is improved enforcement of intellectual property protection and the removal of investment restrictions for European companies in China. The majority do not favor protectionist measures such as protective duties or import quotas with regard to China.
