The coronavirus pandemic is putting pressure on the European construction sector. After a decline of 11.5 percent in the current year, the recovery next year is likely to be much weaker at 6 percent. Developments in the individual countries vary widely. Where construction sites were closed for a long time and the economy was badly affected, losses are expected to be in the double-digit percentage range in 2020. Elsewhere, however, the decline in construction activity remains manageable. And for the Polish and Portuguese markets, growth is even expected.
