Urban or Rural Areas - Who is More Affected by Corona?

In this study, we investigate whether in Germany the coronavirus spreads more in the cities or in the countryside. Our results show that, surprisingly, the first wave of the pandemic in spring 2020 tended to affect rural areas in Germany. In the second wave since summer 2020, however, the infection rates in the large cities are significantly higher.
