60 Years of Building the Wall: Illuminated Landscapes

Satellite images impressively illustrate how much nighttime light emissions and, consequently, economic activities have changed in the new German states between 1992 and 2018. Even if the gains in light intensity are not equally distributed, various regions have become significantly brighter in nighttime images.
