The economic situation in Germany continues to be marked by the coronavirus pandemic. After new waves of infection delayed the recovery in the winter half-year 2020/2021, gross domestic product has now risen again significantly since infections subsided in the spring. However, supply bottlenecks for intermediate products are hampering production in the manufacturing sector, so that only the consumer-related service industries are growing. Overall, GDP is likely to grow by 2.4 percent in 2021 and by 4.8 percent in 2022.
