Contact restrictions are an essential component of the political measures against the spread of the coronavirus in Germany. Restricting mobility is seen as a supporting measure for this goal. This article describes how mobility in Germany developed during the second lockdown from the beginning of November 2020. Special attention is paid to the development in the Free State of Saxony, where the infection rates were particularly high in the winter months. Mobility has decreased significantly, particularly with the extensive closure of retail outlets and increased use of home offices. However, a close spatial or temporal correlation between mobility and infection rates cannot be established.
