In the Economists Panel, a clear majority of the participating economists assess the remuneration of members of parliament as appropriate. A majority also finds that an increase in compensation would have no influence on the quality of work in the German Bundestag. However, there is a call for an independent body to determine the compensation of members of parliament. The additional income of members of the Bundestag is being viewed with a critical eye.
