Demographic Change – Familiar Challenges, New Opportunities

Demographic change poses questions for our society in many areas, be it further education, immigration, social security, or infrastructure. With the transition of the baby boomers into retirement, the shortage of workers is becoming increasingly noticeable. There is no longer just a shortage of skilled workers; employees at all qualification levels are desperately sought after – whether in care, logistics, industry or public administration. At the same time, there are also new opportunities: older people are more agile than ever before and their decisions as consumers, employees and entrepreneurs are becoming increasingly important for the economy and society. What does this mean for the quality of life and social participation of older people? How can the economy and society cope with and shape the changes brought about by demographic change?
