Economic Consequences of the Coronavirus Crisis: Scenario Calculation for Each of German Bundesländer

Politicians have taken far-reaching measures to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. These include the closure of hotels, restaurants, and stores that do not serve the supply of essential goods. In addition, strict lockdowns have been introduced for private individuals. All of this has led to massive sales losses for many companies, in some cases even threatening their survival. In addition to the ifo Institute’s scenario calculation for Germany as a whole, this article examines how the coronavirus crisis might affect the economy in each of German Bundesänder.
