Survey Participation
Companies that participate in ifo Institute surveys enjoy a number of benefits All participants, for example, receive an exclusive and detailed report on the survey results for their branch.
Online Survey Participation
Participants contacted by the ifo Institute are asked to log in to participate in the survey. To confirm their identity, participants are requested to enter their personal user name and password previously sent to them by ifo. They can then access their copy of the survey and/or results report. Participants can subsequently modify their password should they wish to do so.
At present survey responses are still largely submitted on paper, but the gradual transition to online surveys is already underway. Companies that participate in business surveys online can call up their survey questionnaire directly on their computer screen, complete and submit it electronically. Survey Results
ifo Business Survey participants have the exclusive opportunity of downloading various reports featuring figures and charts in a pdf format.
Participants use their access information (user name and password) to log in.
It is strictly prohibited to forward,reprint or distribute the results in any way without the prior permission of the ifo Institute.

Is the online survey as secure as the survey conducted on paper?
The confidential handling of your information is also guaranteed online. Access to the online portal is protected via a password and data transmission via the internet is encoded. Survey responses are stored anonymously in the ifo database.

What do I have to do for my company to take part in the survey?
The surveys are conducted by the ifo Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys. You can submit your answers by fax, e-mail or via the Internet. Please contact Artem Marjenko for further details:

What technical prerequisites are necessary to fill in the questionnaire online?
The questionnaire can be called up and filled in using the standard browsers (for example Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari). All you need to do is to activate JavaScript and SSL/TLS.

I’ve forgotten my online password – what can I do?
As a participant in the online survey you usually do not need a password, since the invitation email that you receive on a monthly basis features a direct link to their questionnaire. Alternatively, however, you can log into the survey using your password at https://umfragen.ifo.de. If you forget your password, click on “Password forgotten” in the login screen to create a new password or http://umfragen.ifo.de/Pages/ForgotPassword.aspx

What do I do if I have problems with participating in the survey?
- Check whether JavaScript and SSL/TLS are activated in your browser.
- Delete the browser cache
- Then close all browser windows and try again.
- Try to access the online survey using another browser or from another work station.
- The configuration of internal networks, proxy servers and firewalls sometimes prevents participation in the online survey. In this case your network administrator can help you.

- Name and version of the browser you are using
- Is just one computer affected or more?
- Is there a proxy server or a firewall?
