With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a new crisis superseded the coronavirus pandemic and defined the public debate. The impending gas and energy shortage fueled inflation, which the ifo Institute had highlighted back in 2021 in the context of the pandemic and supply bottlenecks. With our annual report 2022 we give a summary and provide an overview both of the development of the ifo Institute in the past year and of its additional research and work priorities. The CESifo Economic Studies journal bridges the gap between specialized research in economics and the interest of non-specialists. Survey Series

The ifo Employment Barometer is based on ca. 9,500 monthly responses from businesses in manufacturing, construction, wholesaling, retailing and the services sector. The companies are asked to report on their employment plans for the coming three months.
