The ifo Industry Colloquium is a platform for current topics from an industry-specific perspective. Experts from companies, associations, politics, and research explain current industry developments, trends, and challenges. This year's focus is on the topic of resilient realignment of supply chains. The strategies companies are pursuing to design stable and future-proof supply chains will be discussed from different sector-specific perspectives in the four conference forums Industry, Trade, Services and Construction.
The conference, which the ifo Institute holds regularly in cooperation with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, is sponsored by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy.

Forum Industry | The Future of Global Supply Chains – Resilience in Volatile Times
Rarely have global supply chains been under as much stress as in recent years. Corona crisis, container congestion and the war in Ukraine are presenting companies with unprecedented challenges, and established principles such as just-in-time production are being shaken. How has the industry responded to the shocks? Does the current focus on goods availability inevitably lead to efficiency losses? What role does digitalization play and what strategies will make supply chains more resilient in the future?

Forum Trade| How Does a Secure and Sustainable Supply Chain Design Succeed in Retail?
Supply chains have also become a permanent problem in the German retail sector. The reasons for the disruptions in global supply, which have already been ongoing for two years, are manifold. However, the reciprocal effects present retailers with enormous challenges. After a period of globalization, is the focus for trade now on security of supply? How must processes in supply chains be designed to ensure greater security of supply in the future without losing sight of the aspect of sustainability?

Forum Construction| How Can the Construction Industry Secure Its Supply of Materials in the Long Term?
Following the Corona-related material shortages last year, construction companies are once again facing significant supply difficulties in the wake of the Ukraine war. This time, they have led not only to a sharp rise in the cost of purchased goods but also to a departure from the price guarantees normally granted. The repeated pronounced construction bottlenecks of the recent past make a change of strategy unavoidable. What are the options for placing the supply of building materials on a broader footing in the long term?

Forum Services | With AI, Big Data and Platforms to More Resilient Global Supply Chains
Corona pandemic, container shipping congestion and now the Ukraine war - there seems to be no end to the problems in global supply chains and the German economy is in perpetual crisis mode. Modern, digital technologies can help reduce fragility in global supply relationships in the future. How can networking and coordination between production, transport and logistics companies be improved through a digitized supply chain? And what role can IT service companies play in this?
