Project team: Interdisciplinary team including researchers from ifo Institute, LMU Munich, Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) Braunschweig, and Münster University Hospital, Team at ifo/LMU: Florian Dorn, Clemens Fuest, Andreas Peichl, Florian Neumeier, David Gstrein, Joachim Winter
Tasks
Comprehensive assessment of disease burden and additional mortality
due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pandemic responses – including direct,
indirect and response-dependent effects. The ifo is particularly involved in the analysis of indirect health costs due to the economic impact of the pandemic and the policy measures.
Methodische Vorgehensweise
Evidence syntheses, meta-analyses, and calculations or modeling with collaborating external partner institutions. By considering the direct and indirect effects of the pandemic and policy responses on disease burden as well as economic and social outcomes, the project provides new evidence for decision-making in a pandemic.
