Tasks

This joint project is developing and testing a concept for effectively and efficiently establishing long-term transfer relationships between senior scientists (postdocs or group leaders) from non-university research institutions and decision-makers from small and medium-sized enterprises in innovative cooperation projects. The focus is on the targeted establishment of personal working relationships with the development of a common mental model. ifo Dresden is cooperating on this project in with Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging (IVV) and the Dresden University of Applied Sciences (HTW Dresden).

Methods

Within the framework of guided open interviews, responsible persons from completed transfer projects between non-university research institutions and SMEs are asked about their experiences in the joint project. The focus is on shared mental models, which have a direct influence on the collaboration and also on the success of the collaboration. Based on their descriptions of the collaboration with regard to relevant factors of success, failure, and obstacles, concrete recommendations for action are to be developed, which will be summarized in a guideline for improving collaboration in transfer projects.
