Notes on the Climate: “Energy Only” – the Future of our Electricity Market?

The authors present two possible market designs for the power supply of the future: a further development of the “Energy-only Market” and a combined electricity and capacity market. The first option assumes that an optimised electricity market can guarantee the security of supply. The second option considers this to be unlikely and supports the introduction of an additional capacity market.
