Business Survey in Focus: German Economy in Coronavirus Shock

In response to a special question posed in March as part of the ifo Business Survey on the effects of the spread of the coronavirus epidemic on German companies, 63 percent of the companies participating in the survey stated that they had already been negatively affected by the crisis. Some sectors of the economy, such as the travel and hospitality industry, but also some industrial sectors, have already been hit particularly hard.
