The integration of migrants and refugees continues to be characterized by many challenges, even if the topic has currently moved somewhat into the background of public discussion. However, there is currently no comprehensive gender-specific approach to integration, although almost one in two immigrants and one in three asylum seekers is female. Most of these women have a hard time in many respects. In the areas of education, labor market participation, and social integration, they perform worse than men. This is also the case in comparison with native or EU-born women. Gender-specific needs should therefore be increasingly taken into account in integration measures.
