Career Entry as a Growth Factor – How We Can Build Skills for the Future

Around one in five young adults in Germany between the ages of 20 and 34 has no vocational training. This means disadvantages throughout their entire working life: people without qualifications are more likely to be (long-term) unemployed and earn less on average than people with a vocational qualification. At the end of their working life, they are more often affected by poverty in old age. In addition, the German labor market urgently needs more skilled workers. Demographic change will further increase this need. So there is every reason to help young people gain a qualification through vocational training. How can this be achieved?
