Information:

The ifo Education Survey is an annual representative opinion survey that has been polling the adult population in Germany since 2014. The survey covers a broad range of education policy topics, from preschool age to schools and vocational training to university studies and continuing education. The ifo Education Survey has been financially supported by the German Science Foundation (Collaborative Research Center Transregio 190) and the Leibniz Association (Leibniz Competition SAW-2014-ifo-2).

Access

The use of the data of the ifo Education Survey is intended for scientific purposes only. The use is free of charge. Data use for a publication (e.g., articles in journals, master’s theses, dissertations, working papers, etc.) requires citation of "Vera Freundl, Elisabeth Grewenig, Franziska Kugler, Philipp Lergetporer, Ruth Schüler, Katharina Werner, Katharina Wedel, Olivia Wirth, Ludger Woessmann, „The ifo Education Survey 2014–2021: A New Dataset on Public Preferences for Education Policy in Germany“, Jahrbücher für Nationalökonomie und Statistik, 2022." in the respective scientific work. In order to work with the ifo Education Survey data, a project-specific usage request has to be submitted to the EBDC. Permission will be granted after review of the project application and signing of the usage request. An anonymized scientific-use file will be provided. The data package is in STATA .dta format. The codebook is available below.
