Saxon State Parliament secures continued existence of ifo Dresden

The existence of the Dresden branch of the ifo Institute is secured for the time being. “We are very pleased that intensive and constructive discussions with the Saxon state government and members of the Saxon state parliament have made it possible to continue the excellent research of the ifo branch in Dresden,” says ifo President Clemens Fuest.

Companies in Germany are growing more cautious in their personnel planning. The ifo Employment Barometer fell to 93.7 points in June, down from 95.1 points in May.

Sentiment among companies in Germany has improved. The ifo Business Climate Index rose to 88.4 points in June, up from 87.5 points in May. Expectations brightened in particular. Companies assessed their current situation as slightly better. The German economy is slowly building confidence.
