CESifo Network
Promoting Economic ResearchCESifo is a global, independent research network with members from across the world. Members are prominent economists with a broad spectrum of specialisms, each of whom brings years of experience and a high level of expertise to our research areas. Collectively, our mission is to advance international scientific knowledge exchange about economics and economic policy, to strengthen the cooperation between the ifo Institute and LMU Munich, and to maintain Munich as a vibrant hub of economic debate in Europe. CESifo is funded by the State of Bavaria.
Visiting Researchers

Matthew Collins
Matthew Collins is an applied microeconomist with overlapping interests in the economics of education, gender economics and development economics. Much of his work investigates the determinants of and returns to human capital formation, as well as inequalities in parental investments in human capital. More recently, Matthew’s work has focused on culture and gender inequality. During his visit to CESifo, he will continue to work on projects in these domains.

Gordon B. Dahl
Gordon B. Dahl is a labor economist whose research focuses on families, public policies and the labor market in both the U.S. and throughout Europe. His research spans a wide range of issues, including how family income affects child achievement, peer effects among coworkers and family members, the impact of incarceration on recidivism and employment, the early-life integration of immigrants, and intergenerational links in welfare use.
Gordon Dahl is a Professor of Economics at the University of California, San Diego. He is the Area Director for Labor Economics for the CESifo Research Network, a Research Professor at the ifo Institute, and a CESifo Research Fellow.

Ro'ee Levy
During his CESifo visit, Ro’ee Levy will focus on studying the demand and supply of news slant. The internet and social media have dramatically transformed the news landscape. The abundance of online news options, recommendations of social media algorithms, and changes in news production may have segregated individuals into echo chambers, environments where people mostly consume like-minded news. Such echo chambers could exacerbate polarization, distort perceptions of reality, and threaten democracy. However, a gap remains between these grave concerns and the limited evidence on echo chambers.
“The CESifo International Research Network spans the globe. It links both fresh talent and renown economists who meet, publish, discuss papers and exchange ideas at CESifo, greatly boosting progress in economic research.”

Events
CESifo organizes conferences, workshops and seminars that provide ideal opportunities for interaction and the exchange of ideas. The conferences are divided into two categories: annual area conferences relating to the individual areas of the CESifo Research Network, and conferences initiated and supported by network members that deal with topical issues in the field of economic research.
"By combining state-of-the art theory with rigorous empirical evidence, researchers in the CESifo network provide answers to pressing policy questions around the world."

Research Network
CESifo is a global network of more than 2000 members, each of whom is selected for their expertise and extensive experience in the CESifo research areas. Members are invited to join the network as Affiliates or Fellows after completing a period of residential research at the Center for Economic Studies or the ifo Institute.
EconPol Europe
EconPol Europe is CESifo’s economic policy platform. EconPol’s mission is to contribute to the crafting of evidence-based, effective economic policy in the face of the rapidly evolving challenges faced by the European economies and their global partners.
