How to Become a CESifo Research Network Member
CESifo is a global network of more than 2,300 economists, each selected for their academic excellence and contributions to CESifo’s Research Areas. Membership is by invitation only.
Promising young economists who have participated in a research visit or an academic event, either at the Center for Economic Studies (CES) at LMU Munich or at the ifo Institute, may subsequently be recommended for membership in the CESifo Research Network.
These recommendations are made by established researchers, especially CESifo Fellows, who have collaborated with or supervised the candidates during their research visit. Fellows may nominate potential Affiliate members by submitting a letter of recommendation and a CV to the CESifo Program Director.
To be invited, candidates must hold a Ph.D., be at an early stage of their academic career, and have at least two publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Alternatively, candidates may qualify through the Distinguished CESifo Affiliate Awards, which recognize the best papers presented by young scholars at CESifo Area Conferences. Winners of the Award and selected nominees are invited to join the network as Distinguished CESifo Affiliates.
Affiliate membership is initially granted for four years. Affiliates who continue a successful academic career and actively contribute to CESifo activities—through publications in the CESifo Working Paper Series and participation in conferences—may be promoted to CESifo Fellow.
CESifo Fellows are established, internationally recognized economists who contribute to the network by organizing conferences, acting as Area Directors of the Research Areas, and serving as research professors at the ifo Institute.
Code of Conduct
