Organising committee
Costas Arkolakis (Yale University, CEPR, CESifo), Carsten Eckel (LMU Munich, CEPR, CESifo), Lisandra Flach (ifo, LMU Munich, CEPR, CESifo), Gianmarco Ottaviano (Bocconi University), Claudia Steinwender (LMU Munich, CEPR, CESifo), and Daria Taglioni (World Bank).
We are pleased to host the 3rd edition of the “International Seminar on Trade” (ISoT) together with the Journal of International Economics, LMU Munich, World Bank, and CEPR at the ifo Institute.
The conference will feature a keynote address by Kalina Manova (UCL, CEPR and CESifo).
ISoT focuses on recent advances in empirical, theoretical, and quantitative international trade. We also welcome papers in closely related fields – including economic geography, development and industrialization; technology, innovation and digital transformation; climate change and the environment; macroeconomics and finance; economic resilience and crisis management; and labor, inequality and social impacts – if they include a significant international trade component. Submitted papers should be motivated by real-world questions and firmly grounded in policy-relevant empirical evidence.
This year, the conference is organized with the support of the German Research Foundation (DFG) through CRC TRR 190 (project number 280092119) and FOR 5918 International Division of Labour (IDoL). ISoT 2027 will therefore be preceded by a half-day workshop on international trade, organized by DFG/IDoL on the afternoon of 19 May. While attendance is optional, all ISoT participants are warmly invited to attend the workshop.
Conference Details
Economy travel costs for one speaker per paper will be reimbursed in accordance with the CESifo Travel Policy. Accommodation will be organized and covered by CESifo. The details of our policy will be included in the decision notification letter.
Publication
By submitting a paper in response to this call, authors agree that it may also be considered for publication in a special issue of the Journal of International Economics. Paper submitted to ISoT must therefore not be under consideration for publication in another journal. The refereeing process for the special issue will be overseen by two Guest Editors, who will be Kalina Manova (UCL, CEPR, CESifo) and Pol Antras (Harvard University, CEPR, CESifo).
