Economics of Digitization
Understanding the economic implications of the world’s transition to an ‘always on’, omnipresent and increasingly interconnected digital future is the goal of the digitization area. Digitization, the process of turning data into computer-friendly formats, has deepened existing research agendas and opened up new research avenues through the collection and dissemination of new kinds of data at an unprecedented rate. Understanding how these new sources of data and associated advances in algorithmic data analysis influence public policy, firm behavior and consumer welfare across a variety of settings is at the heart of the digitization area. The annual conference brings together researchers across a variety of economic disciplines from all over the world to foster the discovery and diffusion of specialist knowledge.
